Hello, Crossroads Family !
Immerse begins tomorrow evening at 7:00 at the church ! I hope you’ll come ! Even if you didn’t get an Immerse Bible or won’t have finished your reading for this first session, come for a good time of conversation, encouragement, and a short time of worship. Childcare will be available. The evening will end around 8:15. If you have questions, be sure to reach out to Forrest. The goals of Immerse are these : 1) Connect with God. 2) Build community. 3) Grow your faith. Those are good goals for us this fall !
I hope you’ll link to this article from the Evangelical Free Church of America, part of their newsletter called EFCA Today, about a missionary we support at Crossroads, Colin Welch. Colin serves in Paris and has a unique ministry of outreach through music and videography. He is already making many connections with the art community in Paris. Colin has a story to tell of God’s faithfulness. Take a minute to read the article, and you’ll have a better sense of how to pray for Colin. I hope we’ll have Colin here to visit us in Nevada one of these days !

Prayer Needs
There are quite a few prayer needs within our extended church family currently. Several are health-related. Health needs often bring with them emotion and/or fear. Thanks for asking God to provide comfort, courage and healing where needed.
Calendar
Wednesday, August 28 : Immerse, 7:00 – 8:15 pm at the church.
Sunday morning, September 1 : Worship at the church beginning at 10:00. If you’ll be out of town, be sure to catch up on Facebook — the sermon should be posted there some time Sunday afternoon.
Saturday, September 7 : The first session of “Breakfast & a Bible Study,” for women, led by Erin Townsend, will meet at the church from 8:00-9:15 am. Be sure to sign up this Sunday at the latest so enough study books can be ordered. Contact Erin if you have questions.
Sunday, September 8 : The first session of the new Hymn Study will meet, 6:30 – 7:30 pm. This group will be meeting every other Sunday evening at the home of Marvin and Diane Knoche, 1605 West Maple Street, and will be led by Jenny Rives.
Sunday, September 15 : Everyone is invited for a picnic lunch of smoked turkey, ham and fixin’s at the Townsends’ home, 13454 E. Nelson Road, following the worship service. We’ll have a sign-up sheet at the church so we can start getting a head count. We need some people who will bring a dessert, ice, and/or some drinks to share. Let Bryan or Erin know if you can help.
Sunday, September 22 : We’ll have a Ministry Teams Meeting following worship on this day. We would like everyone who is currently on a Ministry Team to try to attend. We’ll do some planning and coordinating for the remainder of 2024 at the meeting. It should not last more than an hour. Thank you !
From Isaiah 51:10-11 (NLT) :
Are you not the same today, the One who dried up the sea, making a path of escape through the depths so that your people could cross over ? They will enter Jerusalem singing, crowned with everlasting joy. Sorrow and mourning will disappear, and they will be filled with joy and gladness.
I hope to see you at Immerse tomorrow night !
