Tom’s Midweek Greeting
Crossroads Community Church
Nevada MO
Hello, Crossroads Family!
Thanks to everyone who is a part of Crossroads and to all who support to Crossroads in so many ways! We had a good congregational meeting last Sunday; I’ve placed some notes from the meeting at the bottom of this email. Thanks to all who participated. Shane Dahmer was re-elected to the Nominating Committee, and we approved a budget for 2021 which will require prayer and joyful, generous giving on our part. God has been good to provide and to meet all our needs.
I’m looking forward to this coming Sunday’s worship beginning at 10:00 at the Y. We’ll go further in our sermon series on “Building a Community.” One of the important yet often overlooked parts of building a healthy church community is fellowship. What, however, is fellowship? Why is it important? Our Christian concept of fellowship may be thin. Is fellowship food? Is fellowship visiting about who’s going to win the big game? I think it may really be about relationships! Are strong relationships possible in the church? Let’s find out this Sunday morning at 10:00! (The sermon will be posted on the Crossroads Facebook page Saturday evening.)
“Momentum” Home Group
Several of you signed up for the new home group, “Momentum,” that will start January 24 at my house at 6 pm. This will be a 6-week video series that will combine study and … fellowship! The video series is by Colin Smith, pastor at The Orchard Evangelical Free Church on the northwest side of Chicago. Pastor Smith will use the Beatitudes (Matthew 5) to help us gain new momentum in our Christian walk.
If you haven’t signed up, I hope you will on Sunday,… or let me know by text or email that you’d like to be part of the group. A six-week commitment means there’s a definite start and finish — an on-ramp and an off-ramp. So, by signing up, you won’t be making an open-ended commitment. I’d like for you to commit, however, to being at the group at least four out of the six Sunday evenings so we can maintain some consistency in the group and gain momentum together!
