Tom’s Midweek Greeting
Crossroads Community Church
Nevada MO
Dear Crossroads Family,
I hope you’re having a good week and experiencing the nearness of God in every situation in which you find yourself! I’m grateful for the Crossroads family. We’re having some good times on Sunday mornings; our Sunday evening Home Group was a blessing to those who attended; and many in the church are experiencing timely spiritual growth in their lives. We continue to experience what God promised we would – “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come ” (2 Cor 5:17).
Here’s a short reminder of what’s coming up the next couple weeks at Crossroads:
Time change this weekend.
Don’t forget to turn your clocks ahead one hour this Saturday evening!
Worship this Sunday at the Y at 10 a.m.
It has been a year since we started going into hiatus due to the arrival of the coronavirus. Aren’t you glad that we’re able to meet together in person now to enjoy worship, fellowship, and teaching from God’s Word! I hope you’ll be with us this Sunday! For the sermon we’ll continue to take a look at Jesus’ relationships with tax-collectors. What did it mean that Jesus was a friend to tax-collectors and sinners? If we lived in Jesus’ day, we would likely despise tax-collectors as much as others did. Why did Jesus, instead of heaping scorn upon them, actually draw near to them and befriend them? (The sermon will be posted on the Crossroads Facebook page Saturday evening if all goes well!)
Tom Time-Off
My family and I will take some time off March 15-21. If you have a need, please contact Cris, Shane, or Dave. Shane McCasslin will be preaching in my place on Sunday, March 21st.
Seder Meal, April 2
Please let me know if you’d like to be part of the Passover Seder meal on Good Friday, April 2, at 6:30 pm, at my house. It will be a meaningful and fun experience! We’ll enter into the Jewish Passover and the death of the Lord Jesus as presented in that meal. This would be a great opportunity to connect a friend of yours with the Gospel and with some in the Crossroads family.
Easter Breakfast & Worship
We’ll have breakfast together on Easter Sunday, April 4, at 8:30 a.m. at the Y. More details coming soon. Plan to bring a friend for breakfast and/or worship on Resurrection Sunday!
Youth Group
The next Youth Group is scheduled for Wednesday, March 31, 6:30 pm, at the Rods, *contact us for location*.
Thoughts on Knowing the Will of God (from a sermon by Warren Wiersbe, “The Place of the Holy Spirit in Discerning the Will of God”)
— God’s will for you is arranged by Him in order for you to grow day by day in your faith in Jesus Christ. His will for us is not, first of all, our happiness; happiness is a by-product of our growing in our faith in Him.
— The purpose of God’s guidance in your life is that you would know God better … not just know your Bible better, but know God better.
— Stop praying, “Show me Your will”; pray instead, “Show me Yourself!” Knowing Him is more important than knowing His will, just as a parent would say, “I want my children to love me more than loving what I do for them.” Knowing the will of God is really only a by-product of knowing God.
God bless you as you finish out the week! I look forward to seeing you this Sunday morning!
— Tom
