TMG
Hello, Crossroads Family!
You’re going to love the Home Group study series that starts this coming Sunday evening, 6 pm, at my house (628 W. Arch Street). I hope you’ll plan to attend. It’s a study appropriate for adults and high school students! Plan to come, and consider bringing a friend or neighbor who could benefit from a taste of God’s Word, God’s people, and Crossroads Church! While it would be great if you can make a commitment to all six Sundays (and you’ll get the most out of the study that way), I understand not everyone will be able to make it all six weeks. Plan to come even if there are some gaps ahead for you on a Sunday evening.
“Goliath Must Fall: Winning the Battle Against Your Giants” is going to help us see the epic story of David and Goliath in a whole new way. Why does this story stick with us over the course of our entire life? The Israelite army lived in the grip of fear and humiliation day after day while Goliath challenged them. None of the Israelites dared to go out and fight him. Until David came.
Plenty of us face a similar predicament every day. Although we’re not fighting literal giants, our giants are every bit as intimidating and damaging. Giants like fear, addiction, anger, rejection, or even a sneaky but familiar giant like comfort. Day after day these giants rob you of your power, leave you paralyzed from moving forward, keep you from living the fullness and freedom of the life God intended for you. If this is part of your story, this study is for you!
I hope to see you this Sunday evening at 6:00. We’ll have some drinks and snacks available, and we’ll plan to finish no later than 7:30, maybe even a little before that.
Needs in our Family
Thank you for keeping each other in prayer and for reaching out to help as the Lord leads you and makes it possible.
Jessica’s grandfather’s surgery went well yesterday, although a needed biopsy wasn’t able to be performed. Jessica’s mom is also recovering from surgery following her very serious fall. Please pray for these members of Jessica’s family, for Jessica, and for Jessica’s brother.
We pray for Angi who has experienced a recurring health issue that has left her in pain and causing her to miss work. Please pray for Angi, Shane, and their kids as they seek God’s strength, comfort, and provision.
Please pray for Kris’ mom, and for a cousin of Jamie and of Heather. These two family members are fighting illness this week, and the entire extended family could use God’s support and care.
There are other needs in the church family. Thank you for caring. That’s a part of our responsibility as ones who are joined together in Christ.
Worship this Sunday
What a fresh change of pace it has been to meet outdoors in the covered pavilion at Riverside Cowboy Church the past two Sunday mornings. We’ll be there again this Sunday for worship at 10:00. No need to bring a lawn chair — there is plenty of comfortable seating on site. There are also indoor restrooms next to the pavilion, and our nursery is available for children ages 0-10.
Address: 16001 S. 1250 Road, just west of Nevada. When you arrive on the property, turn right and drive on through the gate (where you’ll see a great big Bible). Follow that gravel road until it ends and you see our cars!
A Life-Giving Church
Thanks for your attentive and willing spirit as God led us through some principles last Sunday morning having to do with…
- … regular giving to the Lord’s work (1 Corinthians 16)
- … “above-and-beyond giving” (1 Chronicles 29)
- … preparing for a miracle (John 6).
If you would like to respond to God’s vision for Crossroads’ building fund, you may give any time in the Regular Offering basket. Simply include on the memo line of your check, or enclose a note, that your gift is for the Building Fund. Or you can send your gift to the church at P.O. Box 23, Nevada 64772. Thank you!
Let’s remember those four qualities of a Life-Giving Church such as we wish to be:
- Gospel Clarity
- Boldness
- Compassion
- Humility
I look forward to seeing you this Sunday morning at 10:00 (Riverside Cowboy Church), and Sunday evening at 6:00 (628 W. Arch Street).
