Tom’s Midweek Greeting
Crossroads Community Church
September 4, 2019
Hello, Crossroads Family!
A Special Sunday!
This coming Sunday, September 8, will be a special Sunday for two reasons:
— We will start our fall 9:00 Bible study classes! Everyone is welcome to come early and enjoy some time in Bible study and fellowship! Middle School and High School students will begin a video series called “The Truth Project.” Adults are invited to a study on “Why We Can Believe The Bible.” We’ll look at evidence for why the Bible is trustworthy, and we’ll examine where the Bible came from. I hope you’ll join me for the start of this study. Personal spiritual growth comes from the preaching of the Word, from personal study, and from study with others. I hope you’ll add our fall classes to your priority list for Sunday mornings!
— In our worship service we’ll begin a new series of sermons from the Book of Esther. Esther is a unique book of the Bible. For one thing, it’s one of only two books of the Bible named after a woman. Second, it’s a book of the Bible in which the name of God never appears! Does it ever seem to you that it’s hard to see God at work in your life? God’s name is never mentioned in Esther’s story; and yet, He is the prime mover in the story. He is invisible, but He is not absent! I’m excited about what we’ll learn for our own lives from these events that occurred some 2500 years ago! The Apostle Paul said that the events of the Old Testament were written for our instruction (1 Corinthians 10:11).
— The kids back-to-school party scheduled for this Friday, September 6, at the Dahmers’ farm has been postponed. Most of you are aware that Shane’s parents have been hit with some serious health struggles the past two weeks making it impossible for Shane and Angi to host the party. We’ll plan to get together another time! Please be in prayer for Shane’s dad, mom, and sister; also prayers for Trigger (broken arm) and Taylor Scotten (knee). Also,… thanks, as always, to our great Children’s Church Team – Angi, Lindsey, Esther, Kim, Julie, Donna, … and to our helpers : Vicky, Erika, Sabrina, and Evan!
— Congregational Meeting – Sunday, September 15, following worship. If you consider Crossroads to be your church home, plan to stay after the worship service on the 15th for our regular “family” meeting. We’ll consider finances, do some planning for the fall, and pray together. We will finish no later than noon. Thank you to everyone who makes Crossroads Church a great group of people to be part of!
— Men’s Discipleship – Monday, September 16, 6:30 pm. Our monthly men’s study and fellowship time will take place, 6:30-8:00, at Precision Coffee. All men are welcome to be a part of a good time of encouragement and support!
— Home Group – Wednesday, September 25, 6:30-8:00 pm. Food, fellowship, prayer, and midweek encouragement at the Rodriguez Home, *contact us for address*, on the 25th. Activities for young people; Bible study and discussion for adults.
— The Big Serve – September 28 (all day) and 29 (afternoon). Please let myself or Heather know if you’d like to join the team from Crossroads participating in The Big Serve service project. This is a great way to be more outwardly-focused and to bless some others in Nevada. If you could serve part of that weekend or all of it, we could use you! Thanks!
God blessed our summer time prayer sessions. Would you continue to pray for everyone who makes up the Crossroads Family…
… and for our Children’s Church Team, Set-Up Team, Follow-Up Team, Worship Team, for our Elders, for our Church Finance Manager Judi, and for Young Life Nevada.
Please pray for this coming Sunday’s worship service, message, visitors, and classes.
See you Sunday!
