Hello, Crossroads Family!
Last night I enjoyed, for the first time, being part of one of the Immerse discussion groups. We enjoyed good discussion of some difficult passages in Paul’s letters, but more than that, the fellowship was an encouragement and support to us all in the middle of a busy week. Even though I don’t usually attend (due to being part of the childcare team), I found it was easy to jump into the flow of what was going on. Let’s finish strong in Immerse this spring! It’s a blessing to have this Wednesday fellowship in our lives, and we’re halfway to the end of this spring session! Only eight weeks left!
This Sunday
As always, you’re invited to worship this Sunday morning at 10:00! Bring a friend or someone you know who might be wanting to connect or re-connect with God! There will be nourishment, comfort, conviction, and encouragement for the soul. Our Crossroads elders will meet after the worship service for an extended time of prayer and planning. Thanks for praying for our elders – Dave, Forrest, Ryan, and myself. I’m thankful for our church elders; they have made a big commitment to serving the church family. Please reach out to one of us if you have a need for us to address or to pray over at our meeting this Sunday.
Tyrell & Rachel Shoemaker, April 21
Tyrell and Rachel Shoemaker and their children will be visiting Crossroads Sunday, April 21. Tyrell will preach in my place while I’m in Texas for my son Samuel’s wedding to Maddie Golightly. Tyrell and Rachel are missionaries serving God in Chicago through Legacy Disciple. Legacy Disciple has as its goal to make disciples and develop Christian leaders in a way that transforms communities and neighborhoods holistically. They are training young people to rehab houses in disadvantaged neighborhoods, and they are facilitating connections between schools and churches in order to help families in need. Tyrell and Rachel have five children, from age 14 years old down to 2 years old: Kaylah, Josephine (Jojo), Morgan, Lillie, and Eddie. You’ll want to connect with the Shoemakers while they’re here! You can read more about Legacy Disciple at http://www.legacydisciple.org, or you can find them on Facebook.
Closing Thought
“It gave me great joy when some believers came and testified about your faithfulness to the truth, telling how you continue to walk in it. I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth,” are words of the Apostle John in 3 John 1:3-4. It’s a joy to see people at Crossroads walking and growing in truth! Jesus said He is the truth, so growing in truth is also growing closer to Jesus!
I look forward to seeing you, Lord willing, this Sunday morning!
— Tom
