Hello, Crossroads Family!
Just a few thoughts as we draw closer to the end of the week.
We’ve recently experienced two good times of fellowship and worship: We enjoyed filling up our new meeting location with all of you and many visitors on Easter Sunday. Thanks to all who provided breakfast, and thanks to everyone who contributed in big and little ways to making a special Easter at Crossroads. We were thrilled to welcome Bryan and Erin Townsend as new members at Crossroads!
Then, it was great to see such a good gathering of people last night for Immerse and to see on your faces how much you enjoyed your group discussions and fellowship. I’m thankful for this new habit at Crossroads of connecting on Wednesday evenings. I believe it’s deepening relationships and producing spiritual growth. Immerse will happen again next Wednesday night at 7:00. Everyone is invited!
This Sunday morning we’ll worship again at 10:00. Come ready to give your offering of praise, thanksgiving, and service to God. I’m excited about sermons coming up the next several weeks.
On Sunday, April 21, we’re going to enjoy a visit from Tyrell and Rachel Shoemaker. You may remember Tyrell from a previous visit to Crossroads. Tyrell and Rachel and their family are missionaries we support in the inner city neighborhoods of Chicago. They have an exciting ministry of discipleship to young people and families through an organization called Legacy Disciple. You’re going to enjoy Tyrell and Rachel. Tyrell grew up in the church I served in Hermann, Missouri. I was blessed in many ways to have served alongside the Shoemaker family, and to see God call and use Tyrell.
Yesterday I had the opportunity to connect for about an hour with John McGee, Chief Development Officer at Calvary University in Kansas City. You’ve no doubt driven many times past the sign for Calvary University near Grandview on your way into Kansas City. Calvary is a wonderful, strong Christian university offering studies in Bible, Education, Biblical Counseling, Business Administration, and Music. Tyrell Shoemaker was a student at Calvary!
Not only would Calvary be an excellent option for high school students considering future plans, but Calvary also offers lay training programs for church leaders. I know some of you at Crossroads are eager for additional training in the Bible and church leadership. I hope we can tap into some of the resources Calvary offers. Meeting John was a highlight of my day yesterday, and I would love for Crossroads to develop some ties with Calvary. Take a look at them online. I’m sure they would love for you to stop by for a visit too!
I look forward to seeing you Sunday morning, Lord willing! Thank you for remembering to pray for each other. There are several important life events happening within our church family.
Our elders will meet April 14 for an extended time of planning and prayer. If you have a need for the Elder Board to address, please let us know. Thanks for praying for our upcoming meeting.
