TMG
Dear Crossroads Family,
I’m looking forward to being with you for worship this coming Sunday morning at 10:00 at the Y. We’ll continue our sermon series from the E-Free Statement of Faith, this time on the Holy Spirit, “The Most Powerful Force on Earth.”
The Holy Spirit is a mystery to many of us. Who is He? What’s His role in the world and in our lives? Think for a minute about how much is said in the Bible about the Holy Spirit! Here are four examples; what does it all mean?
- “You shall receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you … and you shall be My witnesses” (Jesus, in Acts 1:8).
- To each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. (Paul, in 1 Cor 12:7)
- When they had prayed, the place where they had gathered together was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak the Word of God with boldness. (spoken of the early Christians in Jerusalem, Acts 4:31)
- If anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him. (Paul, in Romans 8:9)
Join us Sunday morning for refreshment and power!
The sermon will be posted on the Crossroads FB page, and on my FB page and YouTube channel, Lord willing, by Saturday evening! Sometimes the uploading process takes a long time! Last week’s sermon has finally posted! Thanks for joining online if you’re unable to be at the Y. But, remember, there is a special fellowship and connection with God we receive by joining the Body in person,… not only on Sundays but at other times during the week too!
For Your Calendar and Prayers…
Crossroads Connection – Sunday, August 29
We’ll have a fun and important time of fellowship following worship on the 29th. Plan to hang around for a loaded potato bar, conversation, and prayer. I’m sure there will be important things to discuss about our transition to a new church home. If you can contribute to the food that day, please contact Michaela Walker, *contact us for number*, or sign up this Sunday!
Elders Meeting – this Sunday
Please be in prayer for our Elders as they meet this Sunday following worship. Thank you! We have several important items on our agenda. Pray for God’s leading as we seek to shepherd the flock well. Please contact one of the elders if you have a need or input. Thank you.
God at Work Around the World
The missions focus in our bulletin last Sunday was on the work of ReachGlobal in France. (ReachGlobal is the missions arm of the Evangelical Free Church of America. (https://reachglobal.ministries.efca.org/) Even if these names and places are unfamiliar to you, allow God’s Spirit to lead you to pray on their behalf. Find a map and locate Paris and Marseille, two great French cities mentioned.
Let’s keep looking heavenward! One day we’re going there! As we enjoy the beauty and intensity of summertime, I think of this paraphrase of a quote from C.S. Lewis:
“What will it be like to drink at the fountainhead of that stream of which even these lower reaches are so intoxicating?”
I look forward to seeing you Sunday!
— Tom
