Dear Crossroads Family,

This is a busy season, isn’t it?  I’m thankful for each of you, your commitment to serving the Lord and each other in many ways.  I hope you’re keeping up with the pace of the season, and, more importantly, I hope we can all experience – inwardly and in our schedules – some of the peace we need at Christmas time.

For people who have experienced loss – as some of you have this year – the holidays can be like a grinding triathlon event:  Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years.  Someone in the church reminded me the other day that we were probably on mile 13 of that triathlon!

I was encouraged today by the little word “all” found in Psalm 145 – some reminders that the Lord loves you all, and that he takes care of all who know him.  Most of these verses have a little qualifier following the word “all,” but sometimes I like to just stop at “all.”  Consider the following:

v. 9 – The Lord is good to all.

v. 14 — The Lord sustains all … who fall.

v. 14 — He raises up all … who are bowed down.

v. 15 – The eyes of all look to You.

v. 17 – The Lord is righteous in all in ways, … and kind in all his deeds.

v. 18 – The Lord is near to all who call upon him in truth.

v. 20 – The Lord keeps all … who love him.

v. 21 – All flesh will bless his holy name forever and ever.

I hope you will be encouraged by the truth that the Lord is watching out for you, and that he can be fully trusted!  Not a single detail in your life or mine escapes his attention.

This Sunday

We will worship at 10:00 at the Y.  I look forward to our worship, fellowship, and time in God’s Word.  We’ll continue in our theme of “Four Looks at the Life of Jesus,” this time from the Gospel of Luke.  No youth or adult studies this Sunday morning.

Following our worship service, everyone is invited to meet with Joe Chenoweth for follow-up on “Walking the Walls.”  As you know, we’ve been using the story of Nehemiah and the re-building of the walls of Jerusalem to identify places of ministry we can strengthen at Crossroads for the coming year.  We’ve identified two specific ministry teams needed – a Sunday Morning Team, and a Follow-Up Team.  Some of you have already responded to the invitation to be a part of those teams for the first half of 2019.  Thank you!  During this Sunday’s meeting with Joe, we’re going to focus on the following questions:

  1. What positive effects or movements are we seeing as a result of our Walk the Walls meetings and conversations?
  2. Do we have defined Point Persons for the two gates we’ve identified (Sunday Morning, Follow-Up)?
  3. Do we have some idea of Who Else would be on those teams?
  4. What initial steps are we asking each team to take as they begin the process?
  5. What will be the meeting rhythm for these teams?
  6. What will be the meeting rhythm for Joe’s with us?

This is going to be an important time for us all together to evaluate how we’re doing at rebuilding the walls at Crossroads, and to set the stage for ministry in 2019!  I hope you’ll set aside the time to be with us!  Thank you!  And a big thanks to Joe for coming all the way from Cornerstone E-Free Church in Harrisonville to guide us through this exciting process!
