Hello, Crossroads Family!
God has done something amazing in our church over the course of the past eight weeks! Just think, on December 1 our elders weren’t at all certain a lease of the property on Highland Avenue was going to work out. Now, by God’s grace and through some hard work from all of you, we have a new “home” for Crossroads Church. Yesterday, I had my first meeting with someone at the new location (a couple from outside the church), and our Worship Team met and had a rehearsal there yesterday evening. And, of course, many of us enjoyed a good time of fellowship and worship last Sunday morning ! We have much for which to be thankful! We should pray and anticipate that this is only the beginning of a new work God is doing in our midst.
This Sunday morning, I’ll finish the short sermon series on marriage I began last Sunday. “How to succeed in marriage … and in any relationship” will be this Sunday’s theme. I hope you’ll join us at 10:00 and invite a friend ! Our new address is 621 Highland Avenue. Don’t forget to tell your friends to come in by the door on the southwest corner of the building!
We have a new rotation of greeters on Sunday morning! Thank you! Please let Erin Reedy know if you would be interested in serving as a greeter!
Happening at Crossroads:
Immerse – February 7
Immerse begins this coming Wednesday, February 7, at 7 pm! It will be a good evening of getting acquainted with your discussion group and of being introduced to the Immerse Bible-reading experience! We’ll have a good time together! I’m looking for someone to be with me for childcare; let me know if you can help! Thanks!
Elders Meeting this Sunday
Our elders will meet this Sunday following the worship service. Thank you for praying for the elders!
Cleaning Help Needed
A sign-up sheet will be available at church this Sunday if you (alone or with a couple others) would like to volunteer to be on a rotation to help clean. The main responsibilities will be to vacuum, empty the trash, and straighten chairs for Sunday morning. The cleaning would need to be done sometime after Immerse on Wednesday night and before Sunday morning worship. Heather Vestal is coordinating these cleaning teams for us; check with Heather if you have questions. Thank you!
Baby Bottle Boomerang
If you’re participating in the Baby Bottle Boomerang project for Birthright of Nevada, the baby bottles and money raised are due back to church on Sunday, February 18. Check with Kim if you have questions. Even if you did not take a baby bottle, you can still make a gift to Birthright if you would like. Let Kim know or bring your gift on the 18th. Thank you!
Ministry Teams Meeting
We’re planning a meeting on Sunday, March 3, for our ministry teams to do some goal-setting and to prepare for Easter. We’d like a representative from each of the teams (worship, children’s, youth, missions, greeters, cleaning, others) to join us that day following worship. Thank you!
Prayer Request Cards
There are some prayer request forms on the back table in the worship area if you’d like to share a prayer need or praise report with the church leadership. Just put the completed card in the offering basket. Thank you! Some current prayer requests at Crossroads include health needs for Heather Vestal and for Angi ; also, safety and God’s care over Austin Forkner as racing season begins. Let’s also pray for God to continue to lead us into a deeper level of sharing life beyond Sunday mornings only. Thank you for praying! How important that is! God loves to hear His children’s prayers!
2023 Contribution Statements
Stacey will have your 2023 contribution statement available this Sunday. Thanks, Stacey and Donna, who have worked hard to prepare these statements.
Need Help Praying?
Sometimes we don’t always know how to pray. Things burden our hearts and minds, but we don’t find the right words that provide an outlet for our concerns. I found Psalm 25 this week to be a surprisingly good prayer for personal needs. Try reading Psalm 23 (the Lord’s promise of care), Psalm 24 (the Lord’s reign as king), and Psalm 25 (“To You, O Lord, I lift up my soul”). I believe you’ll find that much of what’s on your heart today can be expressed with help from these three psalms. Many good promises are found there, too!
A couple more things…
— Our worship team met last night to begin working on a mission statement and goals for 2024 for their team. We had good conversation and prayer about worship at Crossroads. I appreciate this team’s willingness to be intentional about building a meaningful worship ministry for the present and the future of Crossroads Church.
— We’ll worship this Sunday around the Communion Table. All are welcome to participate who are believers in the Lord Jesus.
— If you’re free tonight, join some of us at Nevada High School for our “Meet the Choirs” event. Our two show choirs — Treble Effects and Soundsational Singers — will launch their 2024 shows. You’ll have an enjoyable time, and there will also be an opportunity to volunteer to serve at the Nevada Show Choir Classic on February 17, if you’re interested in working alongside choir students and their parents that day (in the dining area, greeting at the doors, and more!).
I hope to see you this Sunday morning at 10:00!
