Hello, Crossroads Family!
It seems like a small thing to say that God’s people gathered to read and discuss His word, but that’s what happened last night for the second week in a row at Crossroads at Immerse. This is very exciting and a huge step for us as a church! God will reward this commitment and grow us as people! I’m proud of you for allowing this time of refreshment and self-discipline to be a new part of your schedule. My hope is that, as a church, we will grow deeper in our relationship with God and love Him more.
Here’s something I read this morning in my personal time with God. Psalm 34 says, concerning those who love the Lord…
— They will be delivered from all their fears (v. 4).
— They will never be ashamed (v. 5).
— God will save them out of all their troubles (v.6).
— They will not be in want of any good thing (v. 10).
— God will deliver them out of all their troubles (v. 17).
— God delivers them out of all their afflictions (v. 19).
— God keeps all their bones (v. 20).
— None who take refuge in Him will be ashamed (v. 22).
Those are amazing promises! Do you believe He will do that? Have you recognized how He’s doing that now in your life?
Some reminders…
A few short notes, then I’ll look forward to seeing you, Lord willing, this Sunday morning at 10:00. The sermon will again be from Matthew 12 on a very simple subject: “What is a Christian?”
Baby bottles are due back this Sunday. Thanks for blessing moms and babies through your gifts to Birthrhright!
Ministry Teams Meeting, Sunday, March 3, following worship. If I haven’t spoken to you personally, please mark your calendar. We would like someone there from all the Crossroads ministry teams — worship, children, greeter, elders, missions, youth, website, finances,…..Our hope at this meeting is to share what’s going on in various ministries; discuss mission statements and goals; pray together; and do some planning together for Easter. Thanks for being willing to be proactive in ministry!
Cleaning Help: Thanks to those who have signed up to help clean the church building. There is a calendar hanging up in the supply closet where you can remind yourself of the week you signed up for. You may also sign up on that same calendar for an open week. Thank you to everyone helping, and to Heather Vestal who has been organizing this for us! We are in the process of purchasing a larger, battery-powered vacuum.
Prayer: Please be in prayer for those from our area, and some family members of one Crossroads member, who were in the vicinity of yesterday’s shooting in Kansas City and are today processing what they experienced. Please pray for Heather Vestal as she recovers from surgery yesterday. Also, continued prayers for Austin Forkner in the new racing season. Don’t forget to pray for our missionaries: Jesse & Erica McCallister in Berlin; Colin Welch in Paris; and Tyrell and Rachel Shoemaker in Chicago. Also for Lawson and his family serving in Western Asia.
Thoughts
Jesus’ ministry appears, in some ways, to have been kind of haphazard — crisscrossing the Sea of Galilee; sometimes leaving for Gentile regions outside of Israel; sometimes just staying in one spot, as we read in Matthew 15:29:
“Departing from there, Jesus went along by the Sea of Galilee, and having gone up to the mountain, He was sitting there.”
It’s interesting that the Bible should make a statement like Jesus was “sitting there.” I like to imagine Jesus in this way — a normal person; He finally sat down and waited for the crowds to come to Him.
Of course, we know Jesus’ ministry was not haphazard or random but very purposeful. He was doing the work of His Father and being led by the Spirit of God.
Sometimes the journey of our lives also seems rather haphazard; we go here and there, trying our best to do what we know we should do, but not always making sense of it all. If we will trust God and be obedient to Him, the journey does actually accomplish His purposes in His timing in the places of His choosing. I hope you’ll have confidence today that that’s exactly what’s happening in your life.
Our Nevada High School Show Choir Classic is this Friday (middle school choirs) and Saturday (high school choirs) if you’re interested in some fun musical entertainment. Text me and I’ll send you the schedule.
See you Sunday!
