Hello Crossroads Family!
I hope you’re experiencing the Lord’s care, peace, and love this week! The days fly by, don’t they! I look forward to worshiping with you again this Sunday morning! We need the encouragement of the church family. Also, the church family offers us protection in the midst of the many temptations we face to stray from the Lord and his ways. Sunday morning worship is a unique, uplifting experience that many of our friends and neighbors aren’t experiencing. It makes a difference in my life! I hope it does in yours too!
Some midweek notes:
This Sunday:
Youth Bible Study, 9:00 – 9:45. All middle school and high school students are encouraged to come for a good time of fellowship and learning! Plus, you’ll be the first to get the Sunday morning refreshments!
Worship, 10:00 – 11:00. Our sermon this week will be from 1 Corinthians 14 on the subject of speaking in tongues. It’s an important follow-up to what Paul has been writing to the Corinthians about spiritual gifts. Everywhere I’ve been, people have had questions about this particular spiritual gift. Come this Sunday, and let’s find out what God’s Word has to say about it … and what the point is practically for our own lives ! We’ll worship the Lord through the Lord’s Supper this Sunday morning.
Walk the Walls
Our elders had a good opportunity last Sunday afternoon to connect with Joe Chenoweth for some follow-up discussion on “Walking the Walls.” We’re very positive about the big and little changes our WtW discussions in the church have produced. During our time with Joe on Sunday, we talked about how to continue to develop the two teams we already have (Sunday Morning Team and Follow-Up Team), and what might be a next gate or two on the horizon for Crossroads. Would you continue to pray for the effectiveness of these two teams, for vision for the next steps, and for unity as each of us finds our place at the walls. Thank you! We’re blessed that God has sent us a coach like Joe to help us do short-term and long-term planning toward making Crossroads a strong, vibrant place of ministry!
One More Children’s Church Teacher Needed
Did you know that the vast majority of Americans who receive Christ as their Savior do so between the ages of 4 and 14? One study has shown that American children ages 5 to 13 have a 32% probability of accepting Christ, but youth aged 14 to 18 have only a 4 % probability of doing so. Adults age 19 and over have just a 6% probability of becoming a Christian. What an amazing opportunity we have to impact lives for eternity through Children’s Church.
We are in need of one adult person who would be willing to prepare a simple lesson and/or activity for Crossroads’ children during the sermon time one Sunday per month. Imagine the joy you can have of impacting lives in a profound way! If you could try it out for a month or two, please let me know you’re interested, and I’ll get you started. In the meantime, please pray for, and encourage, our current staff of teachers and helpers: Julie Kemper, Angi Dahmer, Esther Rea, Kim Reedy, Donna Rodriguez, Paije Scotten, Vicky Parker, Erica Parker, and Evan Rea.
Bad Weather
If bad weather forces church to be closed, there will be a message on the Crossroads website, www.nevadacrossroadschurch.org. If you don’t have access to the internet, or if you’re just not sure, feel free to give me a call (573-821-3565), or call one of the other elders.
“I am reminded of your sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice and, I am persuaded, now lives in you also.” — 2 Timothy 1:5
(Paul writing to Timothy who came to faith as a young man through the influence of adults who loved him.)
