Hello, Crossroads Family!
I’m glad we are a family, aren’t you? As I observe other churches and interact with other pastors, I’m grateful for the unique combination of people God has drawn to Crossroads. We have a lot of potential, and relationships are one of our strengths (in addition to your hunger to know God and His Word). Would you continue to pray for and think of ways we can reach out to people around us who need what we’ve found together?
Here are a few reminders and announcements of things going on. Don’t forget we’re trying to update the church directory. Since several are new to Crossroads, this will be an important and useful tool.
Immerse
The last session of Immerse for the spring semester will happen next Wednesday night at 7:00. The discussion will be over the book of Revelation! Don’t miss out on it! (There will not be childcare next Wednesday.)
Prayer for Kourtnee
Please keep Kourtnee in mind and remember to pray for her as she leaves tomorrow for camp ministry in the Southeastern U.S. Thank you!
Church Night at the Griffons
Admission is free to the game this coming Sunday evening, 7 pm, at Lyons Stadium in Nevada.
Tom out of town
I’ll be absent next week on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday to attend a pastors conference in Minneapolis, along with my son-in-law Jason. Thanks for your prayers and for your help in my absence.
Gospel Night at Bushwhackers, June 13
Julie Kemper is recruiting helpers for the concession stand at Gospel Night on the 13th. Crossroads is one of the sponsors of Gospel Night.
Pizza & Game Night, June 16
We have a pizza & game night coming up at the church on Sunday, June 16, at 4:30. I hope you’ll be there ! Pizza and chips provided. Bring drinks for yourself and to share!
Prayer Night
I’d like to take advantage of some free Wednesday nights this summer to pray with anyone interested. If you’re interested, join me on Wednesday, June 26, at 7 pm for some informal small group prayer.
Church Directory
Please use the forms on the back table at church to provide your contact information for the new church directory, or to make changes to the old directory. Thank you! If you have questions, check with Heather Hall.
Thank You!
It would be impossible to thank everyone for all the many big and little things that are done at Crossroads. On my mind today are those who keep up the lawn, those who provide refreshments on Sundays, those who clean, and those who practice hospitality as being people we really love and count on! Thank you!
This Sunday
I’m excited to start a series of sermons this Sunday in the Book of Exodus. Moses is one of my favorite characters in the Bible, and God has much to say to us through him and the experience of the Israelite people leaving slavery in Egypt.
Pastor Ray Stedman wrote this about Exodus and its purposes :
“Genesis is about humanity — our creation, our sin, and our groping for God as personified in the lives of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Joseph. Genesis ends with the words ‘a coffin in Egypt,’ a phrase that underscores the fact that humanity is living in the realm of death. Yet, if Genesis is all about humanity, Exodus is all about God. Exodus is God’s answer to human need.”
I’m intrigued to learn more about God and His answers to human need found in Exodus. I hope to see you this Sunday morning at 10:00! Don’t forget that past sermons are available on the Crossroads Facebook page.
“And the sons of Israel sighed because of their bondage; and they cried out ; and their cry for help rose up to God. God heard their groaning; and God remembered His covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. God saw the sons of Israel, and God took notice of them” (Exodus 2:23-25).
