Tom’s Midweek Greeting
Crossroads Community Church
Nevada MO
Dear Crossroads Family,
When you think about all there is to worry about these days it can be exhausting! Things were bad enough just dealing with the ongoing pandemic. But when you throw in the civil unrest in many of our cities, a hurricane, wildfires, electrical blackouts on the West Coast, schools trying to work with social distancing AND, on top of that, a tense, heated election… Wow!
Chaos fatigue will take its toll. You can’t live in a pressure cooker too long without being cooked! We were not designed to carry unending burdens and worries.
In the passage from Philippians we’ll look at this Sunday, Paul gives the Philippian Christians three reasons to stand firm … and to do so with joy! Are you experiencing some chaos fatigue? Are you feeling like you may not be able to stand firm against the pressures of life? Join us Sunday for worship at the Y at 10:00 for “Three Reasons to Stand Firm,” from Philippians 3:17 – 4:4. We’ll have a good time of fellowship, worship, and teaching! (Sermons are also posted on the Crossroads Community Church Facebook page Saturday evening.)
Going on at Crossroads…
Communion: This Sunday we’ll worship the Lord at the Communion table. We’ll have bread already distributed into individual cups, and grape juice the same. If you are more comfortable in bringing bread and drink from your own home, please feel free to do so.
Baptisms, September 13: Ebony Conley and Vicky Parker will be baptized on Sunday, September 13, at the conclusion of our worship service. Please plan to stay for this celebration of God’s work in their lives!
Nursery re-start, September 13: We’ll start up a nursery for toddlers and infants beginning Sunday, the 13th. Thanks to Michaela Walker and a team that is forming! If you could serve once a month in the nursery, or if you could simply be a substitute we could call on in an emergency, please let Michaela or me know.
Monday Night Bible Study: MNBS will start up Monday night, September 14, 7:00 – 7:45 pm. Feel free to join a few others at my house, or join us on the Crossroads Facebook page live!
Crossroads Connection, September 27: Crossroads Connection is a chance for everyone to enjoy some extended fellowship with food once a month after a Sunday worship service. We normally follow that up with some ministry discussion and planning. Our next Crossroads Connection will be Sunday, September 27. More details to come!
“Therefore, my brothers and sisters, you whom I love and long for, my joy and crown, stand firm in the Lord in this way, dear friends!” — Philippians 4:1
“Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near.” — Philippians 4:4-5
See you Sunday!
