Tom’s Midweek Greeting September 30, 2021

September 30, 2021 By Tom Rea Leave a Comment

TMG

Dear Crossroads Family,

I look forward to worshiping with you this coming Sunday morning.  The plan is to meet under the outdoor pavilion at Riverside Cowboy Church, 16001 S. 1250 Road.  When you reach the Riverside property, turn right (east) and follow the gravel road through the gate all the way to its end.  You’ll see our cars there!  10:00 this Sunday morning.

We’ll have a 4-part “You Asked For It!” sermon series in October, starting this Sunday.  Here are the four sermons you asked for me to preach on in October:

October 3 – Should Christians Judge?

Didn’t Jesus teach, “Do not judge”?  And don’t we hear from people all the time, “Stop judging me”?  Yet, we seem to come across other passages in the Bible that tell us to make good judgments.  The Apostle John even wrote about one of his disciple-colleagues, Judas, that he was a thief!  An unfair judgment?  Or the truth?  Let’s try to gain some clarity this Sunday and so be better lights in a confused world.

October 10 – How do we encourage ourselves in the Lord, such as David did in 1 Samuel 30?

We are all often in need of encouragement, aren’t we?  What is this thing David did?  “David encouraged himself in the Lord” (1 Samuel 30:6).  How did he do that?  How can I do that?

October 17 – How do we find God’s way for our life as we move through various seasons of life?

When we’re young, God’s will for our lives seems clear and attainable.  As we grow older, sometimes the way seems less clear.  How can we, young and old, have a clear sense of staying in step with the Lord’s plans for our life?

October 24 – Does God use Satan to accomplish certain purposes in our lives?

Martin Luther, in describing God’s sovereignty, once said this:  “Even the devil is God’s devil.”  In one of the Old Testament stories of  King Saul, it’s written that “an evil spirit from the Lord came upon Saul” (1 Samuel 19:9).  Did God command an evil spirit to afflict Saul?  What exactly is the relationship between God and Satan?

I hope you’ll join us on Sunday mornings in October!  Each weekend’s sermon is posted on the Crossroads Facebook page, on my personal Facebook page, and on my YouTube channel.

Other Reminders

No Home Group this Sunday evening.

We’ll take a break from “Goliath Must Fall” this Sunday.  We’ll pick up with Session # 3 on Sunday, October 10, 6 pm, at my house.  Anyone is welcome to join us for the second half of this interesting and challenging study series on defeating giants in our life.

Elders Meeting this Sunday evening.

Elders, we’ll meet at 7:00 this Sunday at Cris’ house.  Church family, thank you in advance for praying for our Elder Board.

Women Growing, Connecting, and Serving

Some of our Crossroads women will be at the Women of Joy conference in Branson this weekend.  Let’s pray for them as they enjoy fellowship, worship, and meeting with the Lord.  Two other Crossroads women will be leading worship at a women’s retreat at Kamp Keirsey this Saturday.  Let’s pray that God will bless their leadership and service.  We should give thanks for the heart God has given women at Crossroads !

Closing Thought

This was recently sent to me by someone at Crossroads:

“You can’t go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending.”

I look forward to doing that with you — today, and this Sunday morning!

— Tom
